The story behind Combat Sports Insurance

Specialists, not generalists

Generic business insurance wasn’t written with the mats in mind.

Most business policies assume nobody gets hit on purpose. A combat sports business runs on supervised contact — and if the cover doesn’t describe how you actually train, coach and run events, gaps can appear exactly where you need the policy to work.

01

Sparring and contact levels

Rolling, sparring and live drilling are normal nights in the gym. A generic policy may not describe that activity at all — and how the activity is described is one of the first things considered when a claim is assessed.

02

Coach qualifications and supervision

Who coaches, what they’re qualified to teach and how classes are supervised all shape the risk. We ask about it up front so the cover is arranged around the coaching that actually happens on the floor.

03

Waivers and member paperwork

A waiver is one part of a risk system, not the whole system. We look at how memberships, disclosures and inductions work together with the policy rather than treating a signature as the finish line.

04

Incident processes

When something happens on the mats, records matter. We help you think through what gets written down, who follows up and how the process can be shown later if it’s ever needed.

General education only. Cover and procedures should be considered against the individual business and the relevant policy terms.

How we think

Three principles we work by.

01

Mitigate first, insure second.

Better process on the mats comes before the policy — insurance is the backup plan, not the plan.

02

Straight talk.

Plain answers about what cover may respond to, what it may not, and why — before you commit to anything.

03

Partnership over transaction.

We’d rather understand how your gym runs all year than simply renew a document once a year.

What we arrange

Cover built around combat sports.

Combined Liability

The core program may include Public Liability with a limit of up to $20m and Professional Indemnity with a limit of up to $5m, subject to policy terms. Public Liability may respond if a third party claims against the business for injury or property damage. Professional Indemnity may respond to claims connected with coaching or advice.

  • $20m Public Liability
  • $5m Professional Indemnity
  • Arranged around how you train, coach and run events

Beyond liability

A business pack may include the rest of what keeps the doors open, considered against the individual business.

  • Contents and equipment
  • Glass
  • Business interruption
  • Optional theft cover

Cover is subject to eligibility, the policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions. Read the relevant policy documents before making a decision.

In their corner

What the coaches say.

“Nothing but praise for Paul and the team. They always look after me and my athletes and make sure we are looked after with any claims. Would recommend to all.”
Ben Vickers, Eternal MMA
“Great experience, and friendly, and informative service from Jackson. Highly recommend.”
Daniel “The Rock” Dawson, Legends Academy
